Darkrai, the Pitch-Black Pokemon, is a Mythical Dark Type Pokemon. On nights of the New Moon, it is said to inhabit the dreams of others and cause terrible nightmares. Darkrai's ability to cause bad dreams is used as a defense mechanism, method of communication, and a power it can use maliciusly. It is said that a Lunar Wing from Cresselia can wake those who are trapped in nightmares. Darkrai and Cresselia make up the Lunar Duo, and are known to reside in separate mirrored islands far north of Canalave city. It can move in the shadows and is very agile.

HOW TO OBTAIN DARKRAI IN 2023

Please note that this applies only to English [EU] versions.

Currently, Darkrai is only obtainable legally in main-line games through Pokemon Legends: Arceus. You can unlock Darkrai in the Chamberclaw Cliffs if you have save data from Pokemon BDSP.

In Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Brilliant Diamond, and Shining Pearl, Darkrai can be obtained on Newmoon island if the player has a Member Card. However, this can only be obtained via cheating or hacks as all distributions have run out.

Darkrai can be obtained in Gen IV and V via DNS exploits. Through this exploit, in Gen IV, you can obtain a Darkrai from Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Alamos. There is also a 2012 Darkrai that can be obtainted this way in Gen V. The following I have not tested - In Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, you can unlock the mission Liberate the Tower!, which enables you to obtain Darkrai, and from there, it may be possible to transfer this Darkrai to Gen IV.

  • In the Hisuian Pokedex, Darkrai is the last Pokemon.
  • Darkrai is the only pure Dark-Type pokemon introduced Gen IV.
  • It was revealed via corocoro on the 14th of Feb 2007, as well as it's reveal in Rise of Darkrai.
  • Darkrai does have long, pin-like legs, but prefers to float.
  • An Enigma Berry if often held by Darkrai during distributions.

    In 2018, Darkrai was one of the pre-selected Pokemon that entrants could depict in the theme "Beautiful Landscapes", in a new Illustration competition. I wanted to share some of the Darkrai illustrations from the top 50. Please enjoy some of the beautiful depictions of Darkrai.

    WHY I LOVE DARKRAI

    Ever since I first saw Darkrai, I was struck by its cool and mysterious demeanor. I loved the movie Rise of Darkrai, and it showed me that Darkrai was a misunderstood Pokemon who just wanted to protect the town and people it was loyal to - even if that meant sacrificing itself. I used to watch the Darkrai event on YouTube, longing to be able to battle with a Darkrai and visit it's home on New Moon Island. Soon I was able to get one and experience the tense and creppy event. Darkrai is an amazing Pokemon to battle with, with it's good SpAtk and Speed alongside the ability Bad Dreams and its awesome signature move Dark Void. I finally got a legit Darkrai through Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, which I only wanted to play because I saw Darkrai on the cover. Then, I had one in my Pokemon White save file through some GTS trickery. I was so excited to get a Darkrai in SP and PLA! Darkrai is a mainstay in my PLA team, and I currently have a Darkrai in my main Gen V team. I am sad it cannot compete due to being a Mythical Pokemon.

    Darkrai's design is very intersting to me, I love that it will blend into the shadows with it's jagged and wispy black body, and how we can only see one bright eye of it's face, as though it is hiding it's vuneralbility. Because of Darkrai, I fell in love with slightly darker things. Whenever I wear red, black, and white, which is my favourite combo, I think of Darkrai!
